So, just got off the phone with Paypal after being transferred multiple times, and, let me tell ya’, I’m just waiting for these f***ers to be closed down due to shady business practices ~.~
Some background: I was using Paypal to collect money from people for their share of a hotel room for Zenakaikon (which is happening at the end of this week >.<) to then transfer to my bank account probably after the event. I have the room currently being reserved under a credit card with more than enough to cover the charge, but I was still going back & forth between using my Debit card vs. a credit card.
Anyway, the money in Paypal was going to be transferred to one of these cards, but TWICE they took money from the Paypal balance vs., you know, THE CARD IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CHARGING~! Twice these mo**** f***ers took money from the Paypal balance vs. the card I had the charge set up to take from, apparently b/c there’s a “hierarchy” when it comes to what funding source they charge…despite specifically setting up the transaction to take from a card I had on file X/ I’m sorry, but this makes no freakin’ sense to me. So, you charge whatever you feel like despite what the funding source specifically selected? It’s not like the cards I had on file didn’t have enough money to clear the charge, or they could have even used my Bill Me Later account. No, take it from the funding source you (the user) never requested or authorized without any way to prevent things like that from happening…if that isn’t shady I don’t know what is. Fortunately, I did open a case & had it closed with the decision in my favor while on the phone, so I got the money back (both times, but only the 2nd time put me through so much) & immediately transferred the entire balance to my account on file, which I apparently should have done in the first place as ppl. were sending me their money.
I’ve always been weary of Paypal, but this takes the freakin’ cake. So, to anyone using Paypal for the first time to collect money for anything, withdraw it/send it to your account ASAP before Paypal has the chance to bleed you dry B|
