So many things to say, so little time! Heck, where do I even begin?
Otakon Panels & Some Disappoint
Well, the times & places for my panels are as follows:
- Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’s’ Effect on Anime & Manga – Saturday, 8/10/13 from 9a-10a in Panel 3
- The Sengoku Era, Anime, & You – Saturday, 8/10/13 from 8:45p-9:45p in Panel 4
I’m super hype about the days & places because they scheduled both of my panels on the best day to present panels, & I’ll have time to see the T.M. Revolution concert, & this will be the day I’ll be cosplaying badazz Valkryur Mode Baldren >.< Super stoked doesn’t even begin to describe how excited I am.
The only slight hiccup to the panels is that for whatever reason they still don’t have it listed in the Guidebook app. My panels are totally happening, they’re on the schedule & everything & I’ve e-mailed them about it, but they still haven’t added it to the Guidebook yet, granted, I believe there’s still a few others that haven’t been added yet either. Fortunately, one bro brought this to my attention & was also when I realized that they didn’t have either of my panels listed, but hopefully they will be added today or tomorrow at the latest ’cause ppl. are already going through the app deciding what panels they are/aren’t going to see (I know ’cause I’ve been doing that myself, some panels even have ratings already; #Super-Anal-Sometimes) & I want my panels to be listed less no one realizes they’re happening. Personally, in the case of Otakon I always prefer the Guidebook app over the pocket guide any day, although I’ll still go back between the 2 due to my phone’s battery running low, so them not being listed is somewhat distressing.
All in all, can’t wait to the end of this week; granted, I’m getting kinda perturbed how many things keep randomly popping up that I ‘ “need” to do/address but don’t actually “need” to do them’ as decided by other ppl. ’cause I keep having ppl. poke their a$$ in my Otakon preparation & I literally don’t have time for anything else but work & con preparation, but c’est la vie ~.~
Ever since Thursday last week (8/1/13) I’ve been doing nothing but working on cosplays & panels. Besides the obvious time-crunch for Otakon, there was also the fortunate schedule line up where my parents would be gone for around a week which increased my productivity exponentially. Why is this beneficial? I have the whole house to myself to, essentially, turn into a giant cosplay factory >.< The kitchen was my sewing & fabric painting station, the garage was my spray painting area, & my room served as the HQ of all the cosplay things, it’s been absolutely fantastic. Not to mention not having to worry about me getting in my parents way & vice-versa while frantically running around like a chicken with its head cut-off putting things together & figuring out ways I can cut don the time it takes to do certain things for each cosplay. Also, I’ve had to do tons of spray painting for Baldren & if Moms were around it would be heck on Earth because of her health issues that spray painting wouldn’t make any better & I wouldn’t have the space in the garage I do now to paint on account of a car being in the way (with one less car in the garage I essentially have half of it to set up a spray paint station & not have to worry about accidentally painting anything). Let me also mention here this is one of the many reasons I’m pushing to move out by the end of this year at the latest, ’cause I would have my own space to do cosplay things & not have to worry about other ppl. Not the only reason I want to get out but is one of a plethora of raison d’etres for getting out besides the obvious freedom & (almost) complete independence part.
So, cosplay wise, I’ve been super productive & have finished one cosplay (Ieyasu, pics to come soon) & am half way through 2.
Import Art Books in the Mail
These came in the mail last week:
Both of these books are awesome with great drawings & detailed pictures of the characters for Brave 10, with the only downside being that it’s entirely in black & white, otherwise, would have made a great reference for future cosplays. The Lockon book gives detailed info. about him, his role in the story line, & other tidbits about him, of course all in Japanese, with the only negative being, like stated, that it’s in Japanese. Still, these are both great additions to my quickly growing art book family.
Quite frankly, these (art books) are probably going to be the main thing I’m getting from Otakon, since they tend to be harder to bootleg (so it’s easy to tell if they’re real or not/can avoid the issue entirely) & can be a little cheaper than the MG 1/100 scale Gundams I would also want to purchase.
So, as stated before, I’ve been working frantically like a woman on meth trying to finish up my 3 cosplays. One’s done (Ieyasu), one’s half way there (Baldren), & the last one only needs the props to be made (Shin) which will be very easy (may do that tonight if I don’t pass out from exhaustion). Granted, due to sheer frustration & for the sake of saving time, I decided not to do that annoying polygonal pattern on Ieyasu’s pants b/c it was driving me insane trying to figure out how I could do that & not have it look like crap. However, I did a kicka$$ job with everything else for this tedious costume. Baldren I’ve been spray painting my arse off but I still have a decent amount to do, namely the radiator/battery pack, & I decided to change what lights I was going to use for the wings at the last minute due the wing blade design being too long for the length of the LED wires I have. Technically this shouldn’t be a huge deal, because I rather use the LED wires for the radiator pack anyway, but I’ll see later on tonight as I frenziedly work on both the Baldren cosplay, maybe Shin’s, & my panels as well.
After this post, I’ll be posting the pics I’ve been taking over the last several days & be returning back to getting as much done with panels as I possibly can.
Holy shiz this is going to be a long 3 days pre-Otakon >.>
