Facebook status crap (7/5/14):
“Yay! Otakon’s getting really close…commence:
Ppl. b*tching about how expensive it is for the umpteenth time but still go (for the 5th+ year in a row no less); blaming the con for their not being able to afford it (seriously? If you can’t afford it don’t go; it sounds really harsh but it’s not the cons fault you’re poor; there’s more to life than just conventions -_-); dumb cosplayer b.s. drama that starts & ends with “it’s not that f’ing serious, calm the hell down”; b.s. friend drama that begins & ends w/ “I can’t afford to pay for both myself & you so you can get a free con trip”; e-begging for $$$ to go…despite having mouths to feed; ignoring the fact that despite knowing in ’13 you wanted to go to Ota ’14 you STILL made no efforts to start saving $$$; general narcissistic, irritating, manchildness (& female equivalent) of various social networking groups seemingly comprised of trolls & semi-retarded “adults” (long story short, if you’re still a part of it, drop the Otakon 21+ group like a ton of bricks or avoid like the plague if you haven’t already; this is a group completely made up of WPP & adult irresponsible babies X/); going to the con for the one event & when it “isn’t to their liking” proclaim the ENTIRE convention sucks; & generally being stupid with $$$ & being bitter you can’t afford but are going anyway b.s. drama.
Seriously, I think of all the cons I’ve been to since paneling, Otakon will remain the worse as far as the type of ppl. I encounter. Nobody I’m friends w/ on any various social media, but seriously, you’d think the con’s attended by primarily trolls & irresponsible d*uchebags. You might meet a lot of cool & awesome ppl., but the s**t you have to wade through can make it borderline unbearable (incidentally, anyone who’s ever been on an awesome trip w/ s*itty ppl. can understand what I mean when I say the ppl. can/will make the trip). It’s just getting frustrating to deal with X/
Who else is somewhat disillusioned? I know I’m no special snowflake.”
I also forgot to mention the ppl. who go & complain that “there’s too many ppl.” but still go every year ~.~
Some A lot of these things don’t just apply to Otakon, but any convention, especially the issue of “I can’t afford it but I’m going to go anyway”. Basically, “I’m gettin’ too old for this s**t”. If it wasn’t for panels, cosplay, &/or staffing, I’d probably stop going to conventions altogether. No wonder so many around my age stop going to conventions; you get sick of all the bulls**t (not counting the “party animals”; those ppl, are just f’ing sad -_-; usually, they can’t afford the partying either but you can’t reason with those idiots). Of course, none of this is to say Otakon is perfect, just that ppl. are f’ing idiots & some need some severe psychological help.
Also, let me remind those who are tempted to troll; I have to approve comments for them to be shown, don’t even waste your time >.>
