Feels on Samurai 7

Samurai 7 on Adult Swim:
Uhhh, so ambivalent.
I’ve been tuning in to see what all the hub-bub’s about with this series, & it’s got me on the Gaza Strip of purgatory of feels with this show ~.~

On one hand, as a seasoned anime fan, as well as someone who’s seen a decent amount of samurai anime (Samurai Deeper Kyo, Rurouni Kenshin, Sengoku Basara, Sengoku Collection, Peacemaker Kurogane, Hakuouki, Brave 10,Samurai Champloo, Afro Samurai, & a few more), it’s not all that impressive. It’s not bad but it’s not good either.

On the other hand, their soundtrack is by the same ppl. who did Inuyasha (which is awesome), the VAing’s pretty good, & characters like Kiku (the bestest of best characters) & Kanbei alone could keep me coming back just to see how it all turns out.I’m so conflicted. If I saw this pre-college, I probably would have at least finished it, but post-college dead-center in my “I’ll just buy the frackin’ box set when I get the chance/$$$” phase, it’s definitely not worth the $$$ -namely when factoring the other series I’m saving up for- & I’ve had enough of the samurai shows for now, & it definitely isn’t breaking any new ground with what it’s doing.

So, may or may not finish it, it looks like the type of show that really picks up after 8+ episodes, but with this 52 car pile up that’s getting exponentially worse (& now I’m trying to get into Hitman Reborn…for the hottiez), I’m probably not going to finish it ~.~
